Bridging the religion gap

South Wales Echo, Nov 3 2003

EDUCATION'S what you need if you want to bridge the religious gap.

Islam Awareness Week starts today and Cardiff Muslim Abdul Malik believes it's a chance to provide information on the faith.

With 12 different Islamic Institutions in Cardiff, the movement here is already significant.

But Muslims claim ignorance and what is described as misleading information on world events can make life difficult for the UK's 1.6 million followers of Islam.

Mr Malik said: "The problem is that many people are not educated. The Islamic faith has always had a negative image but its people are always together."
