The quality is guaranteed
Bristol Evening Post, Dec 4 2003
FOR 10 years Pak Butchers in Roman Road, Easton, has been supplying high quality Halal meat and poultry.
But during the last three years, the family-run company has become one of Bristol's best known and most successful suppliers to the trade and public.
"Ove the years our business has experienced a phenomenal increased in turnover" says Abdul Malik.
This has all been part of a planned expansion by the company, which is based in Roman Road, Easton.
The move into wholesale was a major factor, the butchers now supplying customers not just in and around Bristol but as far away as Plymouth and Exeter.
They supply Halal fresh and frozen meat and poultry from England, Holland, New Zealand and Australia to customers who include restaurants, takeaways, nursing homes, clubs and the like.
Recently the butchers gained the prestigious Food Hygiene Award and an industry recognised Quality and Customer Satisfaction award, and has built up a number of contracts to supply the local authorities.
The retail shop has also been given a brand new look fitted out with the latest equipment.
"We transformed the retail section into a more attractive modern and hygienic area, introducing state-of-the-art cold rooms and refridgerated display units along with new decor including Italian designer tiles, tall prism fish tanks, electronic message boards and low valtage lighting."
The next step forward for Pak Butchers is e-commerce. Next friday they launch their own website (www.pakbutchers.co.uk) so that customers can order by e-mail or on-line.
"It's all very exciting" says Abdul, who, despite only being 27 years old, has run the business for the past three years.
"We have been told that we are going to be the on-line butchers in the South West and probably the only Halal meat butcher in the country who has gone into e-commerce."
Including Abdul, the staff of eight butchers, Pak Butchers includes five family members: his younger brother Farooq and three brothers-in-law, Ansar, Nasir and Saghir.
"The key to the success of our business is mainly down to being run by family members" says Abdul. "This creates a united work force, making the customers the prime factor in all actions even if I am not here to supervise."
What's important is that customers know when they shop at Pak that the meat and poultry is of a guaranteed high quality, that it is cut to their requirements and taste by professional butchers with years of experience and what Abdul describes as "an unbeatable service along with a competative price promise."
The shop in Roman, which is off St Marks Road, Easton, is open from 9am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday, closing from 1pm to 2pm on Friday for religious reasons.
